Lovely Lola has taken the time to share with us, the best way to eat your way to healthy hair...
Okay, so we all want epic hair right?! If you're anything like me, you're after long, luscious mermaid hair. Now with Hello Hair Hydrating Mask, it's easy to do it from the outside, but there's LOADS we can do from the inside to promote healthy hair growth too.
What you eat has a huge impact on your hair. So here's a few tricks:
1. Fat:
Don't be scared of it - the body needs it and thrives off it, now i'm talking the good stuff here! Think coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, raw nuts and seeds, macadamia nut oil, eggs (yes the yolks too, that's where most of the goodies are), deep sea oily fish, nut butters like tahini, almond butter and macadamia nut butter.
2. Zinc:
I'm talking oysters, they're an amazing source! If you're not an oyster fan don't worry though - you'll find zinc in whole grains, raw nuts and seeds.
Think about adding a handful of pepitas or sunflower seeds to your next salad.
3. Protein:
It is needed for any kind of tissue growth in the body, hair included. Opt for organic options when you can, with red meats, chicken, fish, eggs, and yoghurt.
A clean protein powder is also a great option! Look for one with no artificial flavourings or sweeteners. I love to use ones sweetened with Stevia.
Diet.
Here's a day's worth of healthy ideas that your hair will love:
Breakfast:
Opt for a healthy smoothie, with an almond or coconut milk base, loaded with berries, chia seeds and a tablespoon of coconut oil.
It makes it super creamy, but adds a truckload of health and hair benefits!
Berries are full of antioxidants and they help prevent free radical damage like sun exposure.
Morning Snack:
A raw trail mix, made with your favourite nuts and seeds; add chia seeds too, for more omega 3 benefits.
Lunch:
Try making a quinoa superfood salad, filled with as many coloured vegetables as possible. Then add two boiled eggs so you're getting a protein source, and good fats. I love to sprinkle paprika and pink salt on the salad too, for added flavour.
Afternoon Snack:
Cut an avocado in half, squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it, and add a sprinkle of pink salt and pepper. Good fats help your hair grow and shine!
Dinner:
Cripsy salmon cooked in coconut oil, with a fresh avocado and tomato salad.
Dessert:
Raw chocolate - the good fats are perfect for hair growth.
